Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Sunday morning by Edmund Blair Leighton was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2018. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 10,625.00 (€ 11,837.19) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edmund Blair Leighton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work God Speed in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 707,750.00 (€ 1,121,870.87).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Sunday morning von Edmund Blair Leighton kam im Dezember 2018 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 10.625,00 (€ 11.837,19) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edmund Blair Leighton erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit God Speed im Juni 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 707.750,00 (€ 1.121.870,87).
