Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Favour by Edmund Blair Leighton was sold in the British Art: Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art auction at Christies in London in December 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 17,500.00 (€ 20,682.95) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edmund Blair Leighton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work God Speed in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 707,750.00 (€ 1,121,870.87).
