Auction result misses estimated price range
In July this year a collector was able to acquire the work Devotion by Edmund Blair Leighton for GBP 9,450.00 (€ 11,025.29). This price was achieved in the auction British and European Art at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edmund Blair Leighton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work God Speed in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 707,750.00 (€ 1,121,870.87).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Juli diesen Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Devotion von Edmund Blair Leighton für GBP 9.450,00 (€ 11.025,29) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion British and European Art bei Christies in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edmund Blair Leighton erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit God Speed im Juni 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 707.750,00 (€ 1.121.870,87).
