Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Picnic Party by Edmund Blair Leighton was sold in the Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art auction at Sothebys in London in July 2017. The price achieved of GBP 71,250.00 (€ 79,504.06) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edmund Blair Leighton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work God Speed in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 707,750.00 (€ 1,121,870.87).
