Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Untitled, from 'Storyville Portraits', c. 1912 by E. J. Bellocq was sold in the 20/21 Photographs/ Leaves of Light and Shadow: Photographs Gathered by William T. Hillman auction at Christies in New York in March 2015. It changed hands for a price of USD 8,750.00 (€ 8,146.36) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 7,000.00 – 9,000.00. Admittedly, works by E. J. Bellocq have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Storyville Portrait, New Orleans, c. 1911-1913 in October this year with an auction result of USD 56,700.00 (€ 53,652.54).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Untitled, from 'Storyville Portraits', c. 1912 von E. J. Bellocq wurde im März 2015 in der Auktion 20/21 Photographs/ Leaves of Light and Shadow: Photographs Gathered by William T. Hillman bei Christies in New York versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 8.750,00 (€ 8.146,36) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 7.000,00 – 9.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von E. J. Bellocq auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Storyville Portrait, New Orleans, c. 1911-1913 im Oktober diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 56.700,00 (€ 53.652,54).
