In November 2013 Christies in London held the auction Victorian, British and Impressionist Art, which included the work 'Digging Potatoes' by Duncan MacGregor Whyte. The result of GBP 1,500.00 (€ 1,805.05) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Admittedly, works by Duncan MacGregor Whyte have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Beach at Perth in November 2019 with an auction result of AUD 12,200.00 (€ 11,071.79).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im November 2013 führte Christies in London die Auktion Victorian, British and Impressionist Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit 'Digging Potatoes' von Duncan MacGregor Whyte zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 1.500,00 (€ 1.805,05) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Duncan MacGregor Whyte auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Beach at Perth im November 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 12.200,00 (€ 11.071,79).
