Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Islander 12 x 16 in. framed 18 x 22 in. by Joe Duncan Gleason was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in December last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,000.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 892.50 (€ 834.27). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joe Duncan Gleason achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Avalon Bay, Catalina from the West 16 x 20in in March 2020 with an auction result of USD 25,075.00 (€ 22,735.52).
