Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Out of New Bedford (The Charles W. Morgan) by Joe Duncan Gleason was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in August 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 4,462.00 (€ 3,781.36). Admittedly, works by Joe Duncan Gleason have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Avalon Bay, Catalina from the West 16 x 20in in March 2020 with an auction result of USD 25,075.00 (€ 22,735.52).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Out of New Bedford (The Charles W. Morgan) von Joe Duncan Gleason im August 2021 bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 4.462,00 (€ 3.781,36) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Joe Duncan Gleason auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Avalon Bay, Catalina from the West 16 x 20in im März 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 25.075,00 (€ 22.735,52).
