Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2024 a collector was able to acquire the work Torso, Gaston Lachaise, at An American Place, New York by Dorothy Norman for USD 640.00 (€ 559.34). This price was achieved in the auction Prints & Photographs at Bonhams in Skinner Boston and was even below the estimate range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Dorothy Norman achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Clouds in April 2002 with an auction result of USD 7,170.00 (€ 7,964.90).
