Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Gravestone, Chatham, Cape Cod by Dorothy Norman was auctioned at Bonhams in Skinner Boston in January 2024, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 400.00 – 600.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 384.00 (€ 335.61). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Dorothy Norman achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Clouds in April 2002 with an auction result of USD 7,170.00 (€ 7,964.90).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Gravestone, Chatham, Cape Cod von Dorothy Norman im Januar 2024 bei Bonhams in Skinner Boston versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 400,00 – 600,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 384,00 (€ 335,61) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Dorothy Norman erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Clouds im April 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 7.170,00 (€ 7.964,90).
