Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Stokowski Symphony by Dorothy Brett was auctioned at Christies in New York in January 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,500.00 (€ 1,093.69). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Dorothy Brett achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Santo Domingo Corn Dance, 1959 in December 2021 with an auction result of USD 69,062.50 (€ 61,020.06).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Stokowski Symphony von Dorothy Brett im Januar 2011 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.500,00 (€ 1.093,69) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Dorothy Brett erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Santo Domingo Corn Dance, 1959 im Dezember 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 69.062,50 (€ 61.020,06).
