Artwork auctioned at 56 times the pre-set estimate
When the work Oracle by Dong Zuobin was auctioned at POLY in October 2020, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - price of HKD 500.00 but the actual price achieved was more than 56 times as high at HKD 28,320.00 (€ 3,136.67). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Dong Zuobin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Calligraphy Couplet In Jiaguwen in April 2015 with an auction result of HKD 525,000.00 (€ 60,674.61).
Kunstwerk zum 56-fachen des Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Oracle von Dong Zuobin im Oktober 2020 bei POLY versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 500,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 28.320,00 (€ 3.136,67) mehr als 56-mal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Dong Zuobin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Calligraphy Couplet In Jiaguwen im April 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 525.000,00 (€ 60.674,61).
