Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Calligraphy in Running Script by Dong Gao was sold in the Fine Classical Chinese Paintings auction at Sothebys in Hong Kong in October 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 150,000.00 – 200,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 151,200.00 (€ 16,818.91) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Dong Gao have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Scenic Sites Of West Lake in March 2009 with an auction result of USD 194,500.00 (€ 146,670.69).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Calligraphy in Running Script von Dong Gao wurde im Oktober 2021 in der Auktion Fine Classical Chinese Paintings bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 150.000,00 – 200.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von HKD 151.200,00 (€ 16.818,91) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Dong Gao auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Scenic Sites Of West Lake im März 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 194.500,00 (€ 146.670,69).
