This artwork by Derwent Lees achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in June 2006. In the 20th Century British Art auction, the work Sunset Over The Dalmatian Coast sold for GBP 13,800.00 (€ 19,968.37) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Derwent Lees - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sandhills, which sold at auction in October 2021 for GBP 60,000.00 (€ 71,083.80).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Derwent Lees erzielte im Juni 2006 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 20th Century British Art wurde die Arbeit Sunset Over The Dalmatian Coast für GBP 13.800,00 (€ 19.968,37) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 6.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Derwent Lees mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Sandhills beobachtet, die im Oktober 2021 für GBP 60.000,00 (€ 71.083,80) versteigert wurde.
