Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2021 Bonhams in London held the auction The Marine Sale, which included the work The 14 gun brig HMS Speedy by Derek George Montague Gardner. The price achieved of GBP 2,550.00 (€ 3,021.06) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Derek George Montague Gardner achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The 'Glorious First of June', 1794 in October 2007 with an auction result of GBP 50,900.00 (€ 73,095.75).

Im Oktober 2021 führte Bonhams in London die Auktion The Marine Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit The 14 gun brig HMS Speedy von Derek George Montague Gardner zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 2.550,00 (€ 3.021,06) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Derek George Montague Gardner erzielen.
