Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In April this year Bonhams held the auction The Marine Sale, which included the work 'Proceed with all despatch.- Frigates at sea, 1795' by Derek George Montague Gardner. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 14,025.00 (€ 15,983.93), 17% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Derek George Montague Gardner have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The 'Glorious First of June', 1794 in October 2007 with an auction result of GBP 50,900.00 (€ 73,095.75).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im April diesen Jahres führte Bonhams die Auktion The Marine Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit 'Proceed with all despatch.- Frigates at sea, 1795' von Derek George Montague Gardner zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 14.025,00 (€ 15.983,93) und damit 17% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Derek George Montague Gardner auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The 'Glorious First of June', 1794 im Oktober 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 50.900,00 (€ 73.095,75).
