Auction result well in line with expectations
The work 'First sight of England. The Torrens, in the Channel, 1893.' by Derek George Montague Gardner was sold in the The Marine Sale auction at Bonhams in April this year. The price achieved of GBP 9,562.50 (€ 10,898.13) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Admittedly, works by Derek George Montague Gardner have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The 'Glorious First of June', 1794 in October 2007 with an auction result of GBP 50,900.00 (€ 73,095.75).
