Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Raison, twenty guns, in action with the forty gun frigate Vengeance, 20 th August 1796 by Derek George Montague Gardner was auctioned at Bonhams in London in October 2021. The price achieved of GBP 3,187.50 (€ 3,776.33) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,500.00 – 3,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Derek George Montague Gardner achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The 'Glorious First of June', 1794 in October 2007 with an auction result of GBP 50,900.00 (€ 73,095.75).
