In May last year Artcurial in Paris held the auction African Contemporary Art, which included the work Privacy, 2018 by Dawit Abebe. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 12,464.00 56% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Dawit Abebe - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work No.2 Background 3, 2014, which sold at auction in October 2018 for GBP 25,000.00 (€ 28,192.29).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 56 % übertroffen
Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Artcurial in Paris die Auktion African Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Privacy, 2018 von Dawit Abebe zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 12.464,00 und damit 56% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Dawit Abebe mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit No.2 Background 3, 2014 beobachtet, die im Oktober 2018 für GBP 25.000,00 (€ 28.192,29) versteigert wurde.
