Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Ethiopianno.2 Background 3 by Dawit Abebe was auctioned at Sothebys in London in March 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 4,750.00 (€ 5,408.14). Admittedly, works by Dawit Abebe have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work No.2 Background 3, 2014 in October 2018 with an auction result of GBP 25,000.00 (€ 28,192.29).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Ethiopianno.2 Background 3 von Dawit Abebe im März 2018 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 5.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 4.750,00 (€ 5.408,14) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Dawit Abebe auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit No.2 Background 3, 2014 im Oktober 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 25.000,00 (€ 28.192,29).
