Despite a disappointment, a good price for David Strachan
When the work Australian Tree Cemetery by David Strachan was auctioned at Sothebys in Melbourne in August 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of AUD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for AUD 7,800.00 (€ 4,664.22). Despite this disappointing result, Australian Tree Cemetery is the most expensive artwork by David Strachan that we have observed at auction so far.

Als die Arbeit Australian Tree Cemetery von David Strachan im August 2007 bei Sothebys in Melbourne versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für AUD 7.800,00 (€ 4.664,22) den Besitzer. Trotz dieses enttäuschenden Ergebnisses ist Australian Tree Cemetery das teuerste Kunstwerk von David Strachan, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
