Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Australian Clown And Magican by David Strachan was auctioned at Sothebys in Melbourne in August 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of AUD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for AUD 5,760.00 (€ 3,444.35). Other works by David Strachan have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in August 2007 by the work Australian Tree Cemetery at AUD 7,800.00 (€ 4,664.22).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Australian Clown And Magican von David Strachan im August 2007 bei Sothebys in Melbourne versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für AUD 5.760,00 (€ 3.444,35) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von David Strachan wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im August 2007 die Arbeit Australian Tree Cemetery mit AUD 7.800,00 (€ 4.664,22).
