Auction result well in line with expectations
In August 2002 Christies in Melbourne held the auction AUSTRALIAN & INTERNATIONAL PAINTINGS, which included the work Abstract by David Michael Shannon. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of AUD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of AUD 3,290.00 (€ 1,843.62) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by David Michael Shannon have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled (City) in August 2003 with an auction result of AUD 15,275.00 (€ 9,023.73).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im August 2002 führte Christies in Melbourne die Auktion AUSTRALIAN & INTERNATIONAL PAINTINGS durch, in der auch die Arbeit Abstract von David Michael Shannon zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von AUD 3.290,00 (€ 1.843,62) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von David Michael Shannon auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled (City) im August 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 15.275,00 (€ 9.023,73).
