Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Two works: (i) With Her Baby (ii) The Beach Becomes Her by David Whittaker was auctioned at Phillips in an online auction in July 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,500.00 (€ 1,646.90). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Whittaker achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Self Portrait Four, Jewel Box (The Broads, Thunder Showers, Late Afternoon, A Young Girl in Reflection, Poetics of the Past Never Forgotten) in March 2018 with an auction result of GBP 81,250.00 (€ 92,507.61).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Two works: (i) With Her Baby (ii) The Beach Becomes Her von David Whittaker im Juli 2019 bei Phillips in einer Online-Auktion versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.500,00 (€ 1.646,90) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von David Whittaker erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Self Portrait Four, Jewel Box (The Broads, Thunder Showers, Late Afternoon, A Young Girl in Reflection, Poetics of the Past Never Forgotten) im März 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 81.250,00 (€ 92.507,61).
