Artwork auctioned at ten times the upper estimate price
The work Ex Devina Pulchritudine by David Jones was worth GBP 60,480.00 (€ 70,458.53) to a buyer in October last year. This price was achieved in the auction Churchill to Eden: The Collection of the Earl and Countess of Avon at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by David Jones; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Crucifixion sold at auction in November 2016 with the realized price of GBP 93,750.00 (€ 110,615.78).
