In December 2016 Sothebys in London held the auction Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art, which included the work Waves Off The Cornish Coast by David James. The result of GBP 10,000.00 (€ 11,691.62) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Admittedly, works by David James have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Cornish Rollers in December 2017 with an auction result of GBP 75,000.00 (€ 84,401.51).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Dezember 2016 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Waves Off The Cornish Coast von David James zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 10.000,00 (€ 11.691,62) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von David James auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Cornish Rollers im Dezember 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 75.000,00 (€ 84.401,51).
