Auction result misses estimated price range
In May 2021 a collector was able to acquire the work Shop assistant, Orlando West, Soweto by David Goldblatt for GBP 12,600.00 (€ 14,660.39). This price was achieved in the auction Photographs at Phillips in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 15,000.00 – 25,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by David Goldblatt - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Selected Images of South Africa, which sold at auction in October 2017 for USD 60,000.00 (€ 51,510.99).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Mai 2021 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Shop assistant, Orlando West, Soweto von David Goldblatt für GBP 12.600,00 (€ 14.660,39) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Photographs bei Phillips in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 15.000,00 – 25.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von David Goldblatt mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Selected Images of South Africa beobachtet, die im Oktober 2017 für USD 60.000,00 (€ 51.510,99) versteigert wurde.
