In July 2012 Christies in London held the auction Victorian & British Impressionist Art, which included the work Rydal Water, Cumberland by David Farquharson. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 6,875.00 (€ 8,756.90), 38% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by David Farquharson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Morning Breeze, Dordrecht, which sold at auction in October 2004 for GBP 16,730.00 (€ 24,079.07).

Im Juli 2012 führte Christies in London die Auktion Victorian & British Impressionist Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Rydal Water, Cumberland von David Farquharson zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 6.875,00 (€ 8.756,90) und damit 38% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von David Farquharson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Morning Breeze, Dordrecht beobachtet, die im Oktober 2004 für GBP 16.730,00 (€ 24.079,07) versteigert wurde.
