Upper estimate price exceeded by 58 %.
In July 2019 Sothebys in London held the auction Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite and British Impressionist Art, which included the work Sketch For Venus Verticordia by Dante Gabriel Rossetti. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 47,500.00 (€ 52,151.84), 58% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Dante Gabriel Rossetti achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pandora in May 2014 with an auction result of GBP 5,346,500.00 (€ 6,571,020.97).
