A top price for Dante Gabriel Rossetti - as previously expected
The work Pandora by Dante Gabriel Rossetti was sold in the British & Irish Art auction at Sothebys in London in May 2014. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 5,000,000.00 – 7,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 5,346,500.00 (€ 6,571,020.97) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Pandora is the most expensive artwork by Dante Gabriel Rossetti that we have observed at auctions so far.

Die Arbeit Pandora von Dante Gabriel Rossetti wurde im Mai 2014 in der Auktion British & Irish Art bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 5.000.000,00 – 7.000.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 5.346.500,00 (€ 6.571.020,97) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Pandora das teuerste Kunstwerk von Dante Gabriel Rossetti, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
