Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In December 2008 Christies in New York held the auction Icons of Glamour and Style: The Constantiner Collection, which included the work Marilyn Monroe, 1950s by Cornell Capa. Here, the upper estimate of USD 5,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 5,250.00 (€ 3,771.82). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Cornell Capa - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Bolshoi Ballet School, Moscow, which sold at auction in October 2015 for USD 11,250.00 (€ 10,188.37).
