Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of Robert, Lord Bruce, Later 2Nd Earl Of Elgin And 1St Earl Of Ailesbury (1626-1685) by Cornelius Johnson was sold in the Old Master & Early British Paintings auction at Sothebys in London in April 2011. It changed hands for a price of GBP 18,750.00 (€ 21,115.73) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Admittedly, works by Cornelius Johnson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of Thomas, 1St Baron Coventry (1578-1640), Lord Keeper Of The Great Seal in May 2020 with an auction result of GBP 87,500.00 (€ 97,134.62).

Die Arbeit Portrait Of Robert, Lord Bruce, Later 2Nd Earl Of Elgin And 1St Earl Of Ailesbury (1626-1685) von Cornelius Johnson wurde im April 2011 in der Auktion Old Master & Early British Paintings bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 18.750,00 (€ 21.115,73) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 15.000,00 – 20.000,00.
