Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2019 Sothebys in New York held the auction Old Masters Online, which included the work Portrait Of A Gentleman, Bust Length, In A Painted Oval by Cornelius Johnson. The price achieved of USD 10,000.00 (€ 8,964.59) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Cornelius Johnson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Thomas, 1St Baron Coventry (1578-1640), Lord Keeper Of The Great Seal in May 2020 with an auction result of GBP 87,500.00 (€ 97,134.62).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2019 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Old Masters Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait Of A Gentleman, Bust Length, In A Painted Oval von Cornelius Johnson zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 10.000,00 (€ 8.964,59) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Cornelius Johnson erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait Of Thomas, 1St Baron Coventry (1578-1640), Lord Keeper Of The Great Seal im Mai 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 87.500,00 (€ 97.134,62).
