Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2002 Christies in London held the auction BRITISH PICTURES 1500-1850, which included the work Portrait Of Margaret, Lady Heath, Wife Of Sir Robert Heath, Half-Length, In A Black Dress With Slashed Sleeves And A White Ruff, With A Rope Of Pearls by Cornelius Johnson. The price achieved of GBP 11,950.00 (€ 18,483.94) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Admittedly, works by Cornelius Johnson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of Thomas, 1St Baron Coventry (1578-1640), Lord Keeper Of The Great Seal in May 2020 with an auction result of GBP 87,500.00 (€ 97,134.62).
