Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2018 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master Paintings, which included the work Portrait Of John Hamilton, 1St Lord Bargany (D. 1658) by Cornelius Johnson. The price achieved of GBP 5,000.00 (€ 5,693.66) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Cornelius Johnson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Thomas, 1St Baron Coventry (1578-1640), Lord Keeper Of The Great Seal in May 2020 with an auction result of GBP 87,500.00 (€ 97,134.62).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2018 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait Of John Hamilton, 1St Lord Bargany (D. 1658) von Cornelius Johnson zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 5.000,00 (€ 5.693,66) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Cornelius Johnson erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait Of Thomas, 1St Baron Coventry (1578-1640), Lord Keeper Of The Great Seal im Mai 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 87.500,00 (€ 97.134,62).
