Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of John Hamilton, 1St Lord Bargany (D. 1658) by Cornelius Johnson was sold in the Old Masters Day Sale auction at Sothebys in London in December 2017. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 8,750.00 (€ 9,846.84) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Cornelius Johnson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of Thomas, 1St Baron Coventry (1578-1640), Lord Keeper Of The Great Seal in May 2020 with an auction result of GBP 87,500.00 (€ 97,134.62).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Portrait Of John Hamilton, 1St Lord Bargany (D. 1658) von Cornelius Johnson wurde im Dezember 2017 in der Auktion Old Masters Day Sale bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 8.750,00 (€ 9.846,84) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
