In April 2007 Christies in London held the auction Old Master and British Pictures and Old Master Drawings, which included the work Portrait of a gentleman, traditionally identified as Sir William Campion, bust-length, in a black doublet and white lace collar by Cornelius Johnson. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 10,200.00 (€ 14,934.11), 28% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Cornelius Johnson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of Thomas, 1St Baron Coventry (1578-1640), Lord Keeper Of The Great Seal in May 2020 with an auction result of GBP 87,500.00 (€ 97,134.62).

Im April 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master and British Pictures and Old Master Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of a gentleman, traditionally identified as Sir William Campion, bust-length, in a black doublet and white lace collar von Cornelius Johnson zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 10.200,00 (€ 14.934,11) und damit 28% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Cornelius Johnson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait Of Thomas, 1St Baron Coventry (1578-1640), Lord Keeper Of The Great Seal im Mai 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 87.500,00 (€ 97.134,62).
