Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of a gentleman traditionally identified as Philips Zweerts (1704-1774), three-quarter-length, in a green coat and white stocking, his left elbow resting on a draped table with letters, standing in an interior by Cornelis Troost was auctioned at Christies in London in October 2014. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 6,250.00 (€ 7,980.35) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Cornelis Troost achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 'Drinkenburg' (The Morning After) in January 2019 with an auction result of USD 639,000.00 (€ 557,883.71).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Portrait of a gentleman traditionally identified as Philips Zweerts (1704-1774), three-quarter-length, in a green coat and white stocking, his left elbow resting on a draped table with letters, standing in an interior von Cornelis Troost kam im Oktober 2014 bei Christies in London zur Auktion.
