Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Valley of Mexico by Conrad Wise Chapman was auctioned at Christies in New York in February last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 35,000.00 (€ 31,183.18). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Conrad Wise Chapman achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work City Of Mexico From The Hacienda De Los Morales in November 2016 with an auction result of USD 348,500.00 (€ 329,457.36).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Valley of Mexico von Conrad Wise Chapman im Februar letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 35.000,00 (€ 31.183,18) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Conrad Wise Chapman erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit City Of Mexico From The Hacienda De Los Morales im November 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 348.500,00 (€ 329.457,36).
