Commentaire : Chapman est un peintre américain célèbre pour ces peintures de la guerre de Sécession.
Élevé en Italie, il y retourna pour se porter au chevet de sa mère malade. Lors de ce voyage, il réalise un certain nombre de tableaux d'après ses croquis, mais aussi des scènes rurales locales d'après nature, comme en témoigne notre petit panneau.

In March 2019 Artcurial in Paris held the auction Old Master & XIXth Century Art, which included the work Scène De Fenaison by Conrad Wise Chapman. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 8,450.00 41% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Conrad Wise Chapman achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work City Of Mexico From The Hacienda De Los Morales in November 2016 with an auction result of USD 348,500.00 (€ 329,457.36).

Im März 2019 führte Artcurial in Paris die Auktion Old Master & XIXth Century Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Scène De Fenaison von Conrad Wise Chapman zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 8.450,00 und damit 41% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Conrad Wise Chapman erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit City Of Mexico From The Hacienda De Los Morales im November 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 348.500,00 (€ 329.457,36).
