Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Claude Joseph Vernet could be acquired at Sothebys in London in July 2018 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Masters Evening Sale auction, the work Morning: A Mediterranean Harbour Scene With Fishermen Laying Out Their Nets; Evening: A Mediterranean Harbour Scene With Fishermen And Their Catch changed hands for GBP 1,630,000.00 (€ 1,827,588.42) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,800,000.00 – 2,200,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Claude Joseph Vernet - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A View Of Avignon, From The Right Bank Of The Rhône Near Villeneuve, which sold at auction in July 2013 for GBP 5,346,500.00 (€ 6,109,308.12).

Für andere Arbeiten von Claude Joseph Vernet mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A View Of Avignon, From The Right Bank Of The Rhône Near Villeneuve beobachtet, die im Juli 2013 für GBP 5.346.500,00 (€ 6.109.308,12) versteigert wurde.
