Admittedly, works by Claude Joseph Vernet have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A View Of Avignon, From The Right Bank Of The Rhône Near Villeneuve in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 5,346,500.00 (€ 6,109,308.12).
