Auction result well in line with expectations

It changed hands for a price of EUR 143,750.00 achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of EUR 100,000.00 – 150,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Claude Joseph Vernet achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A View Of Avignon, From The Right Bank Of The Rhône Near Villeneuve in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 5,346,500.00 (€ 6,109,308.12).

Die Arbeit A Storm In A Bay von Claude Joseph Vernet kam im November 2019 bei Sothebys in Paris zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von EUR 143.750,00 den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von EUR 100.000,00 – 150.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Claude Joseph Vernet erzielen.
