Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A storm near a rocky coast, with a group of fishermen pulling a wrecked boat in the foreground by Claude Joseph Vernet was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January last year. The price achieved of USD 302,400.00 (€ 269,711.02) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 250,000.00 – 350,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Claude Joseph Vernet achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A View Of Avignon, From The Right Bank Of The Rhône Near Villeneuve in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 5,346,500.00 (€ 6,109,308.12).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 302.400,00 (€ 269.711,02) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 250.000,00 – 350.000,00 angegeben worden.
