In November 2003 Christies in Melbourne held the auction AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL AND CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS, which included the work Collins Street, Melbourne by Clarice Beckett. The »bidding war« ended at AUD 17,625.00 (€ 10,632.31), 18% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Clarice Beckett achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Evening, (Beach Road, Beaumaris) in November last year with an auction result of AUD 172,200.00 (€ 112,047.60).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im November 2003 führte Christies in Melbourne die Auktion AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL AND CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS durch, in der auch die Arbeit Collins Street, Melbourne von Clarice Beckett zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von AUD 17.625,00 (€ 10.632,31) und damit 18% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Clarice Beckett erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Evening, (Beach Road, Beaumaris) im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 172.200,00 (€ 112.047,60).
