In May 2016 China Guardian in Hong Kong held the auction Classical Chinese Painting and Calligraphy, which included the work Peony by Empress Dowager Cixi. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 224,200.00 (€ 25,913.37), 49% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Empress Dowager Cixi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lotus, Root and Seed in May 2013 with an auction result of HKD 3,150,000.00 (€ 312,380.66).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 49 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2016 führte China Guardian in Hong Kong die Auktion Classical Chinese Painting and Calligraphy durch, in der auch die Arbeit Peony von Empress Dowager Cixi zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 224.200,00 (€ 25.913,37) und damit 49% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Empress Dowager Cixi erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Lotus, Root and Seed im Mai 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 3.150.000,00 (€ 312.380,66).
