Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Tréboul by Christopher Wood was worth GBP 402,200.00 (€ 472,220.64) to a buyer in November 2021. This price was achieved in the auction Modern British & Irish Art at Sothebys in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 120,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Christopher Wood; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Drying Sails, Mousehole, Cornwall sold at auction in June last year with the realized price of GBP 479,100.00 (€ 556,577.92).
