Artwork auctioned at five times the upper estimate price
The work Portrait of Sir Matthew Lamb (1705-1768) by Christian Friedrich Zincke was worth GBP 6,930.00 (€ 7,741.43) to a buyer in December 2020. This price was achieved in the auction Old Master and British Works on Paper, including Portrait Miniatures from the Pohl-Ströher Collection at Sothebys in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Christian Friedrich Zincke achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Four important enamel miniatures set in a Fine George II Enamel and Gold Portrait Box with hinged lid and base, the concave sides chased with reeded c-scrolls and shellwork on a frosted gold ground and enamelled en basse-taille with leaves in translu in April 2002 with an auction result of GBP 56,400.00 (
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Four important enamel miniatures set in a Fine George II Enamel and Gold Portrait Box with hinged lid and base, the concave sides chased with reeded c-scrolls and shellwork on a frosted gold ground and enamelled en basse-taille with leaves in translu im April 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 56.400,00 (€ 91.253,72).
