Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When the work Portrait Of The Hon. Elizabeth Foley (D. 1776) by Christian Friedrich Zincke was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2019, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 2,000 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at GBP 8,125 (€ 9,603). Admittedly, works by Christian Friedrich Zincke have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Four important enamel miniatures set in a Fine George II Enamel and Gold Portrait Box with hinged lid and base, the concave sides chased with reeded c-scrolls and shellwork on a frosted gold ground and enamelled en basse-taille with leaves in translu in April 2002 with an auction result of GBP 56,400 (€
Kunstwerk zum Vierfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Portrait Of The Hon.
