Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
The work Portrait Sir Danvers Osborn, 3rd Bt (1715-1753), circa 1735 by Christian Friedrich Zincke was worth GBP 8,190 (€ 9,149) to a buyer in December 2020. This price was achieved in the auction Old Master and British Works on Paper, including Portrait Miniatures from the Pohl-Ströher Collection at Sothebys in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 1,800 many times over. Admittedly, works by Christian Friedrich Zincke have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Four important enamel miniatures set in a Fine George II Enamel and Gold Portrait Box with hinged lid and base, the concave sides chased with reeded c-scrolls and shellwork on a frosted gold ground and enamelled en basse-taille with leaves in translu in April 2002 with an auction result of GBP 56,400 (€
